Hearts in Darkness - Laura Kaye

I needed something short to read between these big orders I'm working on this week, so I decided a romance novella might be a good fit. I've been intrigued by this book for a while, and this seemed like as good a time as any to read it. It's only a little over 100 pages, so why not.

Overall reaction: pretty dull, typical and more than a little absurd. Two people who barely glimpse each other get stuck in an elevator together for hours, end up talking in the pitch blackness. And by the end of it, they're madly in love, been having sexy times in the un-air conditioned elevator and end up back at her place where they continue their ridiculous true love stuff. Not in to it. Sorry.

The idea of two people falling in love with nothing but voices to go by was what caught my attention. It was nice to see people attracted to one another for their personalities, not their bodies.

But the idea of falling in love and truly knowing someone in only 4 hours or so was kind of crazy. The upside was the writing was really well done. It flowed, and some of the most highlighted quotes were really pretty. So this novella is mediocre. It's a nice way to fill an afternoon, but it wasn't fantastic. It was just your usual erotica. Meh.
