No character development. Not a lot of world building. And Maya seems awfully young to be so invested in local businesses. When I was 16/17 I didn't pay attention to who owned what. I was just trying to survive high school.
Also, Kate is a horrid stereotype. EVERYONE in this is. And none are likable.
