Loves God Likes Girls: A Memoir - Sally Gary

The synopsis for this book doesn't quite relate what this book is. What I thought would be a thought-provoking memoir about a Southern, Christian girl coming out as gay was actually a long complaint about daddy issues and how they messed her life up. Her dad was a nut, no question, but we didn't get to the "Likes girls" portion of the book until about page 150...of 237. And after it's all said and done, it's not a memoir about being gay and learning to grow as a Christian as much as it's this woman still saying on the very last page how "being homosexual isn't what she thinks God intended for her life".

I just wasted my day. All this excitement about a book that might relate to my life, and in the end she still says it's a sin. Stupid. Stupid stupid.

Loves God, Afraid of Men is what this really should have been called.
