October Breezes (October Breezes #1) - Maria Rachel Hooley
First thing's first: authors need to stop making female characters so mean that when bad things happen to them you feel no sympathy. Skye, the main character, was so mean she was down-right bitchy. She said things to her mother, best friend and boyfriend that would get you slapped repeatedly where I come from. I know she was supposed to be bent out of shape over her dad walking out, but my parents split and I NEVER did the things this girl did. She was so horrible that when she got raped, which I totally saw coming, I actually felt nothing. And rape will get me upset and crying at the drop of a hat, so this is saying something. The only redeeming factor to this book was her future stepdad and her best friend Devin. There's apparently a sequel to this that I want to read, believe it or not. As much as I hated Skye and everything to do with her, I enjoyed most of this book. I just couldn't wrap my head around her awful acting out.And let's not even go in to the numerous type-o's and grammatical errors.
